You can insulate your home or business NOW, radically transforming its comfort, and start saving money, all while reducing the burden your heating and cooling needs place on the environment through lower greenhouse gas emissions.
It really is a win-win-win! What are you waiting for?
Check out the myriad of reasons for choosing blown-in cellulose, with Ecolofty as your green insulation installer:
SAVE MONEY
Ecolofty’s blown-in cellulose insulation offers top energy savings. Weathershield™ provides 30-85% higher R-value per inch than other insulation. Our blown-in cellulose insulation will dramatically improve the energy efficiency of your home, reducing both your heating bills & your carbon footprint. What you spend on insulation through Ecolofty, you’ll make back in reduced heating bills in a matter of months.
GOOD FOR PEOPLE & PLANET
Ecolofty’s insulation is non-toxic, and free of asbestos, formaldehyde, CFCs, HFCs, and/or HCFCs: Unlike fibreglass, our blown-in cellulose insulation poses no threat to lungs with dangerous respirable glass particles. It’s non-toxic and formaldehyde-free. And its safety starts right at the beginning, through its environmentally responsible manufacturing: Weathershield™ uses 10 times less energy to manufacture than fibreglass and 64 times less energy to manufacture than Spray Foam through its environmentally responsible manufacturing. Weathershield™ meets all local and federal Canadian building code requirements and has passed the VOC emission test requirement for classrooms in California.
we will transform your attic
After thoroughly prepping, air-sealing and ventilating your attic space, we’ll insulate your attic by blowing in “the lofty”, our blown-in cellulose, installing it in a thick, even blanket, giving the perimeter of the attic, and all the hardest-to-reach areas, special attention. We will deeply bury the floor joists, bringing every attic up to the new minimum standard of R50 [as incentivized by BC Hydro/Fortis BC, Canada Greener Homes Grant, Clean BC all other affiliations]. This excess coverage over the joists prevents any thermal bridging from taking place, where the joists, being wood, are thermally conductive, and when exposed, account for extensive energy loss. Due to its fine texture and being carefully blown into place, our blown-in cellulose fills in any irregular cavities, preventing air infiltration and convection and ensures a complete, air-tight and thoroughly insulated attic space. Finally, a collar will be built around the attic hatch to retain all newly installed insulation, and the hatch cover will be weather-stripped and brought up to the new BC Building Code standard of R30.
blown-in cellulose is better than both fibreglass and spray foam
Cellulose insulation outperforms fibreglass & spray-foam products. Blown-in cellulose is effective even in small amounts and provides dramatically better coverage than fibreglass. While fibreglass insulation has been shown to lose its structure over time, to become succeptible to moisture, dirty and ineffective, to inhibit mould and to create a veritable haven for our furry attic rat friends, Ecolofty’s blown-in cellulose does, well, the opposite. It doesn’t break down, degrade or - due to its density after settling - become dirty over time. It exhibits and maintains a much higher R-value or thermal measure, than the same volume of other insulations. By its very nature, mould cannot harbour on cellulose; this recycled paper insulation is treated with two types of salt making it 100% mould resistant. Similarly, rodents and insects cannot survive in it.
After installing spray foam insulation, homeowners are required to vacate a home for a minimum of 48 hours. While it is not believed there’s a risk with long-term exposure to spray foam, let’s just say we’d rather not hazard to guess. Further, spray foam insulation is not inherently fire resistant; as such, the material is treated with flame retardants to lower the possibility of it igniting and burning when exposed to sufficient heat sources, adding yet more chemicals to our home. A “green” product? The jury is out.
100% CANADIAN , 100% GREEN
Ecolofty really is THE greenest choice to insulate your home. We can claim this as we exclusively use Canadian-made Weathershield™, an eco-friendly insulation product made from 100% recycled cellulose fibre, containing the highest recycled content and the lowest embodied energy - the sum of all the energy required to produce it - of any insulation product. Weathershield™ is a processed paper material treated with harmless, naturally-occurring fire retardant chemicals - to ensure there is absolutely no risk to the inhabitants, the building and/or to our installers.

Why choose blown-in cellulose over fibreglass batt, fibreglass blown-in - or almost any other type of insulation for that matter? Check out this super informative video to get the full scoop:
fringe benefits galore
Ecolofty’s unexpected fringe benefits are truly significant. Turns out our blown-in cellulose formula is an excellent thermal insulator: great for keeping your home cool in the summer while warm & cozy in the winter. Acoustically, our insulation is also amazing for enhanced soundproofing. In fact, blown-in cellulose in the joist area is one of the best acoustic solutions on the market. Proven to resist and contain the growth of mould and mildew where applied. It dramatically repels mice and other vermin - forever and completely. It prevents ice damming, where thick ridges of solid ice build up along the eaves. It has 55% better fire resistance than fibreglass, meaning that in an instance of a fire, the insulation would cause a house fire to burn considerably slower than fibreglass or spray foam insulation, thus potentially saving homes and lives.
“If I were emperor of the world, I would put the pedal to the floor on energy efficiency and conservation for the next decade.”
